The Transcendence of Christ

Oct 27, 2024    Todd Friel

Up until now in the book of Matthew, we've seen Jesus as the God who is near to the broken-hearted. Jesus' disciples knew that He was warm, kind, and patient. But in this passage from Matthew 17, we will now see that Jesus is also the God who is not to be trifled with. Peter, James, and John are about to see Jesus transfigured before their very eyes, and they are going to be terrified. Listen to this sermon to find out why a reverent fear of the Lord is a good thing and how we have both an imminent God and a transcendent God - the God we want AND the God we need.
