The Urgency of Genuine Salvation

Jul 7, 2024    Todd Friel

In this week's sermon passage, Jesus warns of hardened hearts, false converts, and the self-righteous with an urgent call to get saved. Jesus, in confronting the Pharisees, said, “You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.” He later says, “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” How can that be? How can our words save us or damn us? Jesus was referring to our words being a gauge for the condition of our hearts. Do our words

reveal largely that our hearts have been regenerated or do our words reveal largely that our hearts remain hardened? Join us for this exposition of Matthew 12:22-37 as we learn of the urgency of genuine salvation.
