Your Privileged Position

In 1 Peter 1:10–12, Peter reminds suffering believers that they are profoundly privileged to live on this side of Christ’s death and resurrection—knowing clearly what Old Testament prophets longed to understand about the Messiah’s suffering and glory. Because our salvation was foretold, fulfilled in Christ, proclaimed to us, and even observed by angels, we can rejoice in every circumstance—good or painful—remembering that our God-given privilege in Jesus far outweighs present hardship.
