Who We Are
Alpharetta Biblical Counseling Center exists to help people move from brokenness to wholeness. We firmly believe there is no problem too big for God to solve through the careful application of His Word. We desire far more than to merely “fix your situation.” Our aim is to help you become fully and joyfully whole as you are conformed into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ. We will relentlessly provide each person the truth of God’s Word in a compassionate, caring environment so that you can grow and change for the glory of God, even if your circumstances never change.
What We Believe
- Biblical change can only happen with a true saving relationship with Jesus Christ: Acts 4:12.
- The word of God is inerrant and sufficient for all the spiritual needs in matters of godliness: 2 Peter 1:3.
- The word of God is able bring change even to the deepest of needs: 2 Tim. 3:16-17.
- As Christians we are called to holiness and obedience: 1 Peter 1:15-16; 1 John 2:3.
- Because of the fall of man (Gen. 3), we are in need of the word and the work of God: Col. 3:16, John 3:3.
Why We Exist
Despite the images we all see on social media, we know that no one escapes the pain and heartache of sin. You are not alone if you struggle with anxiety, grief, marriage issues, parenting struggles, addictions, suffering, emotions, guilt, and fear, among others. God has given us all we need to know Him and live in a way that pleases Him, and there is HOPE for anyone who humbly submits to God’s instructions. This is not a theory, we have seen lives radically changed over and over again. Our counselors want to see people experience fullness of joy as they find answers to their problems in God’s Word, the Bible.
What You Should Expect
Counselors who love God, love His Word, and love His people. All of our counselors are certified and trained in the use of Scripture and the principles of biblical counseling from the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors. We come alongside suffering people and bring the full range of biblical truth to focus on the person and the problem at hand. Along with this come solutions from God’s Word for daily living, accountability, reconciliation, peace, healing, and sanctification.
You should expect to be loved, encouraged, and helped. This does not mean you will not be challenged, but it does mean that even as your decisions are confronted, we will do so in a loving and hopeful way. We do not want to beat you up, we want to help you find the joy and abundant life Jesus promised.

Who We Counsel
We provide counseling for individuals, couples, families, and children older than twelve. If your child is younger than twelve, we would be happy to meet with you (the parents) and help you learn how to work with your child at home.
How to Get Started
A decision to ask for help through counseling is an important one. It requires a partnership between you and your counselor. In order for us to best assist you in your journey, please follow the instructions carefully: click the “Login” button and create an account. Please complete all intake information. Each person receiving counseling must complete and sign his or her own form. (Children may be assisted by their parents.) When your application is completed and received, you will be assigned a counselor based on your needs. Please note that it is our goal to assign each person to a counselor as quickly as possible, but there is a typical waiting period of 2 weeks as we seek to match you with the most appropriate and helpful counselor. FAQs
WHAT IS BIBLICAL COUNSELING?
Biblical counseling is committed to the position that Scripture provides the only authoritative guide for what we are to believe and how we are to live (2 Timothy 3: 16-17). The biblical counselor is trained in the use of Scripture and the principles of biblical counseling. He does not base his counsel on man’s wisdom, opinions, experience, or concepts of behavior, (Isaiah 55:8-11) but seeks to bring the full range of biblical truth to focus on the counselee’s need (Hebrews 4:12).
WHAT BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES ARE WE TALKING ABOUT?
Your counselor will use all of her skill in applying biblical principles to enable you to glorify God in your life and to enable you to gain victory over the problems that are depriving you of the peace and joy that God has promised to you in His Word. Your counselor will concentrate in three areas that are necessary for biblical change to take place.
HOPE // In Jesus Christ we have a great High Priest who has suffered and been tempted in all things, yet He never sinned. Because of Christ, even though you may be facing every sin common to man, you can have victory. God has promised that He will not let you be tempted beyond your endurance and that He will provide a way for you to have victory in the midst of your temptation. (1 Cor 10:13; 2 Cor. 12:7-10; Heb. 4:14-16).
CHANGE // While the Bible provides wisdom to help you make wise changes in your life or circumstances, the Bible is far more focused on changing you in your circumstances. Where you live or work may not change, but how you live and work will. God wants to do more than change your external situation, He wants to change you, grow you, love you, help you, and mold you into the image of His Son.
In Christ we can learn how to lay aside the old selfish ways of living and put on the new ways of living in a manner worthy of the Lord Jesus Christ. We can learn to please God in every area of our lives, despite the circumstances. Biblical counseling will enable you to make practical changes. (Eph. 4:20-24; Col.1:10), but the greatest change will be you.
PRACTICE // Talk is important, but doing is more important. You will be continually encouraged to put what you have learned from God’s Word into practice. God wants us to prove ourselves to be doers of HisWord and not merely hearers of the Word. Only in the actual practice of the Scriptures shall we be blessed in what we do, and only then will we please the Lord (John 13:17, 14:21; James 1:22-25).

WHO CAN COME FOR COUNSELING?
Alpharetta Biblical Counseling Center offers counseling for individuals and couples. A person does not need to be a regular attender or member of Alpharetta Bible Church to receive counseling. You will be encouraged to be a part of a Bible-teaching local church as deep change only happens in community.
WHAT KIND OF COUNSELING IS OFFERED?
Counseling is made available to help with any problems you may be facing — marriage, parenting, addictions, disorders, fear, depression, anger, grief, etc. Our counseling approach is based upon truths of the Bible. Since God has fully provided His answers to life and all of life’s difficulties in the Bible, it is superior to any other source of counsel. It is our goal, therefore, to skillfully and practically bring God’s answers to bear upon the challenges you face.
WHO ARE THE COUNSELORS?
The counselors consist of trained pastors and other qualified individuals trained in biblical counseling through the Association of Biblical Counselors.
WHAT DOES THE COUNSELING COST?
Alpharetta Biblical Counseling Center operates with a fee schedule; however, our mission is to make our services accessible to the community. We strive to ensure that anyone in need can receive support, healing, and the compassionate care they deserve, all grounded in the love of Christ. We believe everyone deserves access to care, regardless of their ability to pay. If you're facing financial challenges, please let us know so that we can assist you further. We do not want money to be an obstacle for anyone.
Counseling Sessions are $100/hour, payable through our online payment system. You will receive access to this system upon assignment to a counselor. If you miss a counseling session without giving 24 hours notice, you will still be charged for your session.
Counseling Materials may be suggested by your counselor to aid in the counseling process. You will be responsible for the cost of these resources (some of which ABCC will have available onsite). These prices vary but generally range from $5 – $25.

HOW LONG WILL THE COUNSELING LAST?
Counseling sessions normally last one hour weekly or biweekly for approximately 8-15 weeks. The number of sessions may be shortened or lengthened depending on the progress that is made.
WHAT WILL MY COUNSELOR EXPECT FROM ME?
Your counselor will expect at least three things from you. First, that you will have a willingness to grow and change by submitting to God’s Word. Second, that you will attend all scheduled sessions. Third, that you will complete hope-work assignments between counseling sessions to implement and ensure lasting change.
WHAT HOPE IS THERE FOR MY PROBLEMS AND DILEMMAS?
There is tremendous hope in the fact that God has provided His Word, the Bible, to give answers for your life’s problems and questions. God says that He has provided everything necessary for a person to know Him and to live in a way that pleases Him and produces joy and peace. God promises to help and bless those who rely on Him and obey His instructions in the Bible. Therefore, the one who seeks after and follows God’s answers for life can have great hope, contentment, and direction to handle all the pressures of life.
IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BIBLICAL COUNSELING AND CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY OR CHRISTIAN COUNSELING?
One word defines the difference between Biblical counseling and Christian counseling: integration. Christian counselors use the Bible, but do not fully rely on the Bible because they integrate secular psychologies into their counseling. Biblical counseling relies fully and completely on God’s Word. We reject the philosophies of men. If you have tried Christian counseling but it failed you, we encourage you to experience profound and lasting change through Biblical counseling.
SINCE THE BIBLE IS NOT A TEXTBOOK ON PSYCHOLOGY, DON’T WE NEED THE TO SUPPLEMENT IT WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES TO UNDERSTAND AND HELP PEOPLE WITH PSYCHOLOGICAL NEEDS?
Scripture does not claim to be a thorough textbook on medicine, or physics, or any of the sciences. But psychology differs from these in two important regards. First, psychology is not a true science (see discussion on pages 8-20). It does not deal with objective, measurable data that can be subjected to reliable tests and confirmed by the scientific method. It is a pseudo-science, and most of its cardinal doctrines are mere speculations, not reliable truth.
Second, and most significant, psychology, unlike medicine and physics, deals with matters that are fundamentally spiritual. In fact, the word psychology literally means, “study of the soul.” What are deep psychological needs if they are not the spiritual issues the gospel is concerned with? Scripture certainly does claim absolute sufficiency in addressing those needs (2 Tim. 3:16-17). “The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul” (Ps. 19:7). Scripture itself promises believers the most comprehensive spiritual resources: “everything pertaining to life and godliness” (2 Pet. 1:3).
Is the problem depression? Scripture contains the only reliable remedy. Is the problem guilt? What can psychology offer that exceeds the perfect solution Scripture suggests –”The blood of Christ. . . [that cleanses] your conscience from dead works to serve the living God” (Heb. 9:14)? Every so- called psychological need that is not traceable to physical causes is, in reality, a spiritual problem, and Scripture does indeed claim to be the only sufficient guide in handling spiritual problems. To attempt to add psychological theory to the unfailing testimony of God’s Word is to adulterate God’s truth with human opinion. (John MacArthur Jr.)
